Robby Sintern is a contemporary German painter and draftsman, born in 1964, and lives in Fürstenfeldbruck near Munich. His artworks are characterized by expressive figurations that often include surreal elements. He mainly uses oil on canvas, but also works with acrylic, watercolor, charcoal and ink on various materials.

Sintern uses the means of art to explore the interaction of the individual with his environment. The themes revolve around community, relationships, imperfections and contradictions, but also resources and how to deal with them.

"At the centre of my work is the human being. His desires and dreams, the contradictions in his will and actions - as well as his imperfection and the striving for self-optimisation - all of this concerns me.

I usually find motifs in my immediate surroundings, sometimes they are private pictures, often they are photos from flea market purchases that I use as templates. However, many of my works are based on pure imagination - or on direct observations."
